Demasquer La Nuit

24th of July 2010... Wow... The date is still so fresh in my mind...

Well, on that day, the PFS Sixth Form Society held an Orientation Ball, or more commonly called Prom Night as a 2nd event to welcome the Lower 6. Though, it could also be considered as a graduation party for us upper 6 students. The theme for this year's prom is Masquerade...

One problem, where the hell do I get a mask?

1st I decided to borrow ShinYe's mask as that was so far, the only available option. I would opt for other options if there is because the mask is quite... plain... and small... I have an XXL size for my head.

The day before prom, I followed the guys to Prangin Mall to find a mask, while they went to a saloon to set their hair... After 1 boring and tiring hour, I've only stumbled upon 2 shops selling masquerade masks, and all are ugly... Not what I had in mind... I was looking for a wolf-like mask, preferably covering my nose, up to my forehead. But nooooo~~~~ dreams don't really come true do ya? I decided not to buy any mask since none lived up to my expectation... If I want my mask to be a disaster I would have made it myself! (Oh yea, one reminder, DON'T put on mask with glitters just to try it out, as the post-try outcome WILL be sparkling)

And finally, Sunday, 24th July 2010. The Day. I've prepared everything, from clothes, to tie, and shoes. The first time wearing a full formal outfit, I actually felt great...

Move on to Northam Hotel. I previously asked Melvin to help me with my hair as I suck at it... Well, he is a man of his words and helped me out. Results? Splendid. Thanks, Melvin!

Couldn't believe it myself. The person above was once a geeky, nerdy curly haired boy with thick glasses... But I'm still short =.=

Oh yea, I was pleading for a date in my previous post, and unfortunately, I couldn't get one... Must have gotten a reputation of a lady-repeller or something...

Had to work a lil' bit before the event started... Looks like the labels for the winners couldn't be done on time...

Oh yea, Masters of Ceremony of the day;
Prevenkumar Mauthialagan and Koay Yi Lin. The guy MC was a natural joker... The slide and projector had some problems and it was thanks to the MCs that it turned out to be quite an enjoyable time before we resume with out schedule.

Next up, games. Treasure Hunt (O.O).

Yea I was shocked too, such a formal occasion, Treasure Hunt? Oh well, its not as much of a hunt as it seems. One representative from each table had to find a list of items given, and the items must either be borrowed, or salvaged from anywhere.

My table and table 14 (I think) got the quickest. They were then given a challenge, dance like Michael Jackson!
SauFei did excellent at the start, but the other representative pulled a girl and danced together... They nailed it so... they won. But no prize though, jeez... All those work for nothing (not as if I did anything :P)

And finally, dinner.
As usual in any of the events, its always ladies 1st. The teachers had waiters serving for them so no need to get up from their chairs...

Well... the food sucked. I'll just give a few examples. The fish, covered with a thick, cheesy-like sauce. It tasted... sweet... yuck! Steamed vegetables? Sounded healthy, but I could see a thick layer of oil... Braised lamb... I don't even dare to touch... The tarts tasted like detergents... Only the soup was nice to me, but my friends told me it was overcooked. Hmm... Maybe I like it that way...

There were performances done during dinner to entertain us. All performances were done by all classes in Form 6.
Benedict Weerasena, representing 6R4, singing a song.
Chuan Teik Min, also representing 6R4, also singing a song.

After that, its time for the 2nd game. Dance! Dance! Revolution!

Each table, including the teachers had to send 2 representative to come up and draw an envelope. INside the envelope is the genre of the song they had to dance to.
Yup, believe it or not, Pn. Ruby and Pn. Molisa, dancing to a Tamil Song.
2 guys, dancing to a romantic.... song.... urgh....
... and voila, SauFei and Arvind, dancing to R&B song.

Well hold your horses, the dancing part is not over...

ITS TIME FOR FREE FLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Honestly, I never thought I would actually join in this thing, until ChienHeng pulled me up to the stage... So I follow suit! Dancing to the songs, especially Bad Romance by Lady GaGa, I felt as if I was on ecstasy... It was WILD! Heck, Even the teachers joined in. People like Ms. Choong, Ms. Teh Bee Kim and Pn. Ruby actually danced the floor! Mr. Ooi Eng Lye came up to the stage and danced with us! Proof? Go to my facebook profile to see the video.

Phew... 1st time indulging myself in this moment of wildness... Next, performance by other classes. Mostly is singing and singing... My class did a different thing. Psychological Magic and levitation (or Hodini, as the magician labeled)
The Psychological Magic has a story. There are 4 pictured of women. A necklace will tell which women among them is dead. Only one will be dead. One person will be selected from the audience to do the honors of asking the necklace. Once he said out the name of the women, it is indeed the one that is dead.

Next up, Levitation.
Notice the flower shaped piece there? No support, and its floating... Later he burned it and pulled a flower out of it.

Next, singing by Brian John Dorai from 6AD.
Not forgetting moments of group photos...
And awards. EuTeong got SmartyPants of the Year for Science Stream.

Now, the time has come, to announce the winners for each category;

Best Mask (Male): Lingeswarran
Best Mask (Female): Charlene Yeoh
Best Dressed (Male): Ee Cung Ming
Best Dressed (Female): Pakyasri
Freshie King : Benedict Weerasena
Freshie Queen : E-Laine Low
~
~
~
~
Prom KING : Afeez Arthur
Prom QUEEN : Jenny Wong
They are both couples by the way.

And theres always time for group photo.
And the moment I always had no luck on, Lucky Draw. Seriously, all the events I've been on, I've NEVER won anything once...
The 1st prize is a friggin' Ipod Shuffle, won by the lady below, on the left.
Group photos again~~~

And the yearly culture (I think), where the President of the Sixth Form Society would open up a bottle of champagne on the stage (its actually just grape juice, as if we are allowed for champagne...)
And that, brings an end to the prom... The last few moments were spent on taking photos with well, everyone you want...
This is me with my Physics teacher, Ms. Choong...
...The drunk president, ZhenFei...
...and the keep-asking-me-to-belanja-food friend, HuiYee.

Ahhh, I never want it to end... I had SUCH a wonderful time. I actually had a rough time deciding to go or not to go, since its RM50 per head... But since its my last year, I might as well do so, and I never regret making that decision... It has carved a spot in my heart, and that day, 24th of July 2010, will never be forgotten... And I believe most of us think so too...

Analysing Me

Alright, here's a little bit more info about Yours Truly. After Maha Sanghika Dana, my friends and I wondered around Times Square and stumbled upon a machine that measured basically everything of you.

Here's my result:

Weight : 64.5 kg (This is inaccurate, I'm about 70 kg)

Height : 170.5 cm (So-so, but I'm SURE I'm taller than KennyGoh =.=lll)

BMI : 22.2 (Ideal ok?)

Body Fat Mass : 4.9 kg

Body Fat Index : 7.6% (This proves I'm not fat 'kay, I'm heavy boned)

Blood Pressure 131 / 88 mmHg (normal)

Pulse Rate : 96 / ppm (a little higher than normal)

Voila, detailed info about me. I'm looking for a prom date so, after viewing this, any girl viewers interested? Boys or shemales not included please.

Maha Sanghika Dana 2010

Every year, the Buddhist Students' Society of Penang Free School is invited to serve the monks during Maha Sanghika Dana. This is my fifth year participating in it. It was held in Times Square, surprisingly, as usually it is in Che Hon Kor Moral Uplifting Society.

For the opening ceremony, the released tons of helium-filled balloons to the air. No pictures by the way, no camera, and the battery of my cell dried off....

Then, there was a long long, LOOOOONG break in between. We walked around and listened to a singer singing on the stage. She was okay... but as soon as a male singer steps in, all the crowd disappears...

Some went to Roti Bakar for breakfast, and I went back to check if they started or not.

Later, its time to serve the monks. I scooped rice for about 3 monks, and 1 in particular I felt so guilty... We were supposed to stop scooping as soon as they put their hands down to the table indicating us to stop. This monk didn't do so, and I kept scooping till the rice in my bowl finished...

Another thing I felt guilty for is during the offering of food to the monks. Once we hold the table, we are not supposed to let go. One monk asked me to go over to the other side as there was no one there, and I let go without thinking twice... Then, another monk asked me to let go again, as the chanting hasn't started yet...

Other than that, everything went normal... The rest of the gang went to Gamma for Prom clothes, I already had mine. So its home sweet home for me!

Banquet For Three

Last Saturday, a dinner was organized by Computer Club, Interact Club and Board of Co-curricular Prefects, and I was invited (sort of forced) to go. Worse, they put me in charge of games....

Quick question, I was neither in the 3 clubs/board, why am I in charge of this?
One simple answer, the wrath of ShinYe Lim is unbearable. Combine it with Kerry or AnnGie, insta-kill.

One thing I hate about being in charge of games is that I had to prepare games for all the tables. If there is a change in the number of tables (which in the last minute, there is) I had to add in more... Not only I was in charge of the games, I had to pay RM25 JUST to attend, bugger...

There will be a performance along the event by a band formed by the Form 5 students.

Most of their songs are from Muse, which is of the Metal genre. Not my cup of tea. The vocalist gave me shivers quite a lot of times. One of their song was good though.

Move on to the food.
Since I'm paying RM25 AND be in charge of something, I'm gonna eat till I bloat. The food was okay... but not as much variety as the BOSLIB dinner. The only thing nice is the Grilled Lamb and Ice Kacang. The fish... felt too flour-ish. Dory fish is not a good choice.

There was also a table-by-table magic performance by PeterOng (although it doesn't feel like table-by-table since everyone was following him).
To me, he was the main attraction of the day. He impressed everyone in the event.

There was also a dance by the Pixco troup.
They danced quite good, but its weird to see them break-dance in front of 2 teachers who are in the middle-aged group...

That sums up everything, and I had to help clean up the hall... Why am I so involved in this? Reminder to self, when help are needed by the 3 girls in my class, avoid as much as possible...

Happy Belated Birthday, FreedomAndImmunity!

I've been very busy lately, and I've forgotten about my blog turning 1-year-old on May 23rd, 2010... Bad blogger I am...

Anyways, Happy Belated Birthday FreedomAndImmunity! I'm celebrating this occasion 2 months later than the original date, sigh...

Thanks to this blog, I've improved my social skills, seriously. I began exploring things more to blog about it. I've participated in A LOT more events, activities, and occasions just to find materials to blog. I've gained patience and satisfaction at times letting my anger out into my blog with words.

And since I started to blog, I've developed a tendency to READ blogs. Whenever I'm free i usually click the 'Next blog' button on the upper left side of the IE. Some random blogs came out, but I don't care, if its interesting, I read it. I've became quite a frequent viewer of KennySia's blog. I may not be as into blogs as him to dress up like a woman or some sort just to get blog materials, but I admire his passion. One of the reasons why I read his blog most compared to others is because of his humor and his ability to find interesting blog materials...

Looking at KennySia's blog and other random blogs I encounter, I realise that a blog full of words may not be interesting... I've seen blogs that do not contain a single photo and full or words, I could not even last reading half a page of it. Thats when I decided to take lots of photos for my blog. I may not have photos all the time, but most of my posts, I try to insert at least a photo, just as a prove that it actually happened.

It is then I decided I need a camera. Though, one is expensive and I couldn't carry it around all the time. The cheapest DSLR would easily cost RM2000, and a digital camera would either be troublesome, or would not be available easily because my father needs it most of his time. I don't wanna waste money to buy a new digital camera for myself until I work or when it became really necessary in university.

It is then I got this baby...

Sony Ericsson Cybershot, C902. It has the basic functions a cellphone has, which is sufficient for me. I don't need internet for my cell, nor cool games in it, but I do need a camera. This baby has a 5.0 megapixel camera, although at times it doesn't really felt like it. The flash is not a very good one though, but what can I expect from a cellphone camera? It is sufficient for me during my outings.

Halfway blogging through the whole year, I realise that most of my posts are about the events or outings that I participate in. So as a result I chose to major my posts on lifestyle and events. I dedicate at most 90% of my posts to events and lifestyles and the rest would be either my rants, or pure randomness.

Another thing I've decided to do is to change the layout of my blog once every year, and hopefully, during the anniversary of the existence of my blog. This is my old layout.

I was kinda bored with it looking at the same background for a year or more. So I've decided to change to something more simple, yet sophisticated (hopefully), and, VOILA!

Last year, I had a hard time deciding whether to blog or not to blog. Its been a tough decision for me, and you guys pretty much know what decision I made. I never regret it. I enjoyed every moment of blogging. Eventhough my mood to blog may vary from time to time, blogging always satisfy me. I promise to myself I must at least update 3 or 4 times a month, and at least once during exam months.

This may not sound true to all of you, but... I think I've developed a new hobby...

Thank you, FreedomAndImmunity.

A Birthday Surprise!

Last week Friday, the 6AB students of PFS decided to host a surprise birthday bash for our Chemistry and Form Teacher, Pn Juma'iyah. This is weird as I've never celebrated a teacher's birthday before (most probably 'cause I hate some of them, and its too troublesome :P), but she has did a lot for our class, and we think she deserves our acknowledgement.

She was teaching in 6RC, not knowing anything at all. We brought the cake up to that class planning on surprising her, but we had a few doubts, clash of ideas and obstacles in between...
The Chocolate Sponge Cake With Fresh Cream. RM38.00 people...

Well after a wee bit of argument, we went up instead, and I had to hold the cake =.=

As she walks out of the class, we sang the Happy Birthday song, and made her take the candle (only 1, fortunately for her) out of the cake with her mouth. A birthday tradition I suppose. She fed everyone the cake with her own hands....
The VVVIP.
Basically thats pretty much about it. The 1st hour can be considered a blast, but the rest of the day was plain boring, as no teacher entered for lessons... So our class had some vain moments...

Notice the similar smiles...

Sigh, whenever it comes to birthdays, there goes a big hole in my pocket... I've been celebrating quite a number of birthdays, causing my pocket money to decrease drastically...

Night of The King And I

4th of July, the day America celebrate Independence Day, Penang Free School proudly presents, a musical, The King And I...
.
The idea of having it in Dewan Sri Pinang instead of the school hall is because its the last year Pn. Malini will be directing a play, and also because my school headmaster decided to retire the next year (but though, he withdrew his retirement...).

No, I am no more a propsmen, as the Sea Scouts had enough member to help out with the backstage... We were given a RM10 discount on the tickets as a token of 'appreciation', and sadly, I don't really see the sincerity. I always thought to myself, its okay, think of it as a help to a friend, but if they were ever rude to me, I'll withdraw the fan, suitcase, parasol, the ladder (and give back to the KH room) and the gong (to return to my teacher). The crew members were cool, I just despite how Pn. Malini treat us, and gave us her sour face look (WE HELPED YOU FOR GOD SAKE!).

Okay never mind that, lets move on. The booklet looked as of below, kinda pixelated...

I had to pick up SauFei to the play, and I was afraid of traffic and parking problems so I went there 1 hour earlier (or more). Met up with Linges to hand in his ticket, and walked around Esplanade for a while. Met too many people whom I knew, Mr. Khor, Wil Sern, Charlene's partner, Pn. Suriya, etc. etc. etc. Had a few vain moments.
Finally its time to see the play. I took a seat WAY to far from the stage... It has a clear view, but its hard for photo taking... Not to mention the lighting was so strong, it would be perfect for photo taking upfront, and terrible farback...

The King and I is about a Siam King, being addressed as a barbarian by the English, so he hired an English teacher to teach him English and well... manners... King Mongkut was played by Brian John Dorai and Anna Lenowens played by Charisma Suhashini. Theres a long list of cast to be mentioned, so if you wanna know, tell me, and I'll show you the booklet. Notice my pictures are of x5 zoom with flash off to prevent light over-saturation and people looking at me like a weirdo.

I loved this picture most... She didn't glow by the way, the lighting made it this way...
All in all I gotta say, I was shocked by their performance... They didn't do a good job, they did a SPLENDID job. I was amazed that Charisma could actually sing so well, and sang better than any other singer in the play... Brian was also great and hilarious in the play...

At the end of the play, I was supposed to send Gahjen home but I forgot! I left him at Dewan Sri Pinang :P Luckily there are other people to send him home...

4th of July, 2010 was a memorable night.

Sorrows Of June

Sigh, another month I wish not to remember of... Just when I thought I finally could have some fine moments, these sorrows had to come and affect most of us. Not to mention it had taken it to another level, not just any ordinary fight or regretfulness...

1st of all, I would like to give my deepest condolences to Loh Chee Woon for losing a great family member, his mother...

I was shocked to receive this news, as he seemed fine days before. I may not be too sure what really happened, but I am hoping you would stay strong and move on. I may not know and have not met your mother before, but I do know that she would not want you to be sad...

All I can say is, stay strong, work hard, and make your mother proud. Your friends and I will be there for you all the time when you need us.

Also, to everyone out there, please, I urge to you, tell your family members about your condition or health, not matter good or bad. You may not want to worry them, but telling them at the very late moment would only hurt them deeper...

Also, I would like to reach out my condolences to the McKinney family, as Anya Michelle Li-En McKinney went with the Lord at 30th June 2010...

Anya,

I would always remember you as the loud 11-year-old kid who brought smiles and cheers to everyone in the Survival Camp, even to us counselors...

(Anya is the one with the green shirt)

I just received the news today, and I was truly shocked by it. It is hard to believe such a cheerful and joyous girl is now with the Lord....

Anya... please reach out to your family members, who are now in deep sorrow over this matter, and give them strength, give them the ability to overcome this obstacle... Your family misses you, and so will everyone in the Survival Camp, including us counselors...

Everyone, please cherish every moment of life. It may be joyous or suffering, but it is still our precious moments that would not repeat again. We may not know what is put in front of us, what obstacle must we overcome or what hardship we have to go through.

Please, live your life to the very best, in every aspect... Life is short, or long, we will not know...
