2010, 2010, go away, come again another day....

Well this is it guys, in a few more hours, 2009 will be replaced with 2010... Scary? Well it is to me... Time flies by so fast... Form 6 life will go on as usual, and worst... NO LONG HOLIDAYS UNTIL EXAMS ARE OVER!!! *Jumps down from 20th floor*

Had a lot of fun in the year 2009. There was Orientation Games, parties, Survival Camp, and so on. Some of you might have noticed, but I changed quite drastically this year. How so? Figure it out yourselves, you guys are the ones who told me. My sis especially.

10 Reasons why I want 2009 to remain;

1) Met LOADS of new friends.
2) The teachers for my class is still A-OK.
3) Starts school in mid year.
4) Dismisses at 2.40 for Mon/Tue, 2.00 for Wed/Thurs, 12.00 for Fri.
5) A lower 6, still junior!
6) Not much books to carry to school.
7) Schedule not so compact.
8) Not examination year.
9) Co-curricular activities are all about done.
10) Saja.

10 Reasons why I DON'T really welcome 2010;

1) An Upper 6... Haihz
2) School starts at 4th January.
3) Starts school at 7.30 and dismisses at 4.00 EVERYDAY (except Fri)!
4) Tuitions doubled. DIE!
5) Restart of co-curricular activities. DIE!
6) Examination year. STPM!
7) More compact schedule.
8) 6 more RC duty to perform...
9) New Physics teacher, which I know who, and ITS NOT GOOD!
10) Vol. 1 AND 2 books needed now... heavy load...

Well, as they say, you will not know if you do not try... Hopefully year 2010 will be that much of a problem...

Inter Unit Competition 2009

Well, its been a week since this event started, so might as well as blog it out to exercise my fingers. The Penang Free School Unit 25 Red Crescent Society organized (and participated) in the Inter Unit Competition year 2009. Its a state-level competition, having schools all over Penang to participate. Heng Ee, Peng Hwa, Union, St. Xaviers, MGS, and henceforth.

Do I participate? Heck NO! How in heaven's mind could a member that just took his First Aid exam and not even sure if he passed, participate in a state level competition with other schools, and kept Unit 25 its glory for keeping the trophy for so many years? Chill lads, I'm just an usher this time, dragging them to places for their tests. Easy? Yes, for my job, yes for my marks, NO for all the waiting I have to uphold.

The competition is divided into 4 categories;

1) Marching
2) Theory
3) FAIC (First Aid In Community)
4) Teamtest

Marching, as well, all of you all know, and theory is just a simple test like out monthly exams in school. FAIC and Teamtest is more or less a real situation. FAIC is a person suffering from Hepatitis B (Cholera is suppose to be the real test, but somehow it got leaked, so its changed), and Teamtest looks like a real accident scenario. Each team had 6 members, all must participate, except for FAIC and Teamtest which requires only 4 members to participate.

I was suppose to be in charge of one team, but because ONE usher couldn't make it to the duty, Linges and I have to swap turns to take care of 2 teams at a time. I took care of the CDK group, while Linges took care of PFS Team B, and we took turns for Peng Hwa.

1st event, Theory Test. It was suppose to be uniform inspection, but the officers were running late, so they had to delay it.

Speeches before test...
Front page, contents seem hard, no?

2nd event, Uniform Inspection. All were to go down to the basketball court. During the inspection, I got a sneek peak on their marching quality, and I gotta say, I was wowed by St. John's marching.

Afterwards, marching. No pictures though, as Linges took all the team down.

After marching, lunch time. They served fried rice with sausage. It is so 'filling' that we decided to go to a food court to 'bloat' our stomach even more. Went there, had ice kacang, and received SMS from Gahjen saying the ushers want us to meet in the Usher's room. My ice kacang haven't even been prepared. Ah, screw it. If they want us there, they could have informed us earlier, or AT LEAST, when we were eating the fried rice DIRECTLY IN FRONT of them. Hot soup? I don't think so. I have my M-60 ready if they were ever to even raise their voices at me. Who cares about this anyways its 12 hours of work and only considered 1 duty. I've done 5 duties already for this year.

Went back to the Ushers room about 15 minutes late, and suprisingly, they didn't even say a word, and minding their own business that I felt I shouldn't have hurried with my ice kacang and had brain freeze a couple of times.
Marking papers...

Thina went to buy a cake for Gahjen as it IS his birthday, and he had to come to this horrid place to do duty. What a celebration....

His cake, eaten halfway and was stopped by me for photo, hehe...

Next, FAIC and Teamtest, held simultaneously. All ushers are to hold responsibility to 1~2 team per event. I escorted 2 teams to FAIC,

and one team to Teamtest...

Afterwards, I got a call from mom saying I had to attend a dinner, which NO ONE told me. Got scolded for not being told about the event.... Sweet family.... I could have asked them to arrange my jobs so that it would end sooner if they would have AT LEAST tell me about it...

Whatever it is, I am not elaborating much on that or this will be a place full of anger itself. Happy thoughts, happy thoughts, HAPPY THOUGHTS!

Might be celebrating a few more birthdays in December.

23rd- SauFei, Gahjen

Survival... Schmurvival?

BOO! Finally in a mood to write something that happened like 2 weeks ago. My hands must be pretty rotten by now... Speaking of rotten, its also one of the reasons I decided to blog it right now, I gotta admit it, this place is pretty rotten by now.

Okay, back to 2 weeks ago. Before the school closed, I signed up to be a facilitator for a survival camp, together with Thina, ZhenFei, AlvinTan, Linges, HuiYee, CharleneYeoh, and Shyamala. Thina told me its included in the Red Cresent Society duty, thats why I joined. There will be allowance as well... But guess what, the participants of the camp were all aged 6 to 12, with a 13 year old girl, and a 14 year old mentally-degraded boy (I was being nice, but he really suffered from this kind of 'disease'). The 8 of us were to build a gadget and be team facilitators of the entire camp. I was also in charge of photography, which explains the photos below! Since I brought this up:

WARNING! Tons of photos ahead, read at your own risk, keep your eye lids up! To photo fanatics, more of them are uploaded in my facebook profile, go and take a look. There are about 360+ photos of it. And too bad, most of the photos are without me *sobs*, well because, I was in charge of photography...? Get a hint already!

DAY 1:

Registeration day. Well of course, since it is the 1st day...

The gadget we build. Steady? No comments.
The secretaries

Basically we gotta introduce ourselves before we start our programmes. Thina as the head of the facilitators, will do the talking.
Big Boss

Well, after introduction, snack time... What kind of survival camp has maids preparing snacks and food for the participants... Since then, we pretty much learned that most of them are spoiled brats that are spoonfed at home, manually by their parents' hands. I'm crapping here.
Chocolate waffles, and its the same snack for 5 days... *urgh..*

Afterwards, each team gotta work their own team name, motto, cheer, and paint their own flag. My team was named Pokemon (I do not contribute to anything). Then, flag painting time... It was... pretty disastrous considering the children running around, paints on the floor instead of canvas, and everything else.
My teams flag, the only flag thats without their own team name in it...

Oh yeah, before that they gotta present all the stuffs they have come up with. The cheer, motto, their members, leader, asst. leader, etc.
Knots and lashing time, leaded by AlvinTan, assisted by CharleneYeoh. Pictures will do the talking.

CHARLENE! BAGI DIA AJARAN SESAT! He deserve them...

Then, Hui Yee and Charlene stood up the treehouse to give a small brief on the campfire.
Charlene: If you guys don't shut up I'm gonna slap each and everyone of you!
Poor quality...
Thats all for day 1.

DAY 2:

First program, First Aid, leaded by ZhenFei. Things he taught are cramps, burns, emergencies, etc. etc. etc...

Cramp-situation
ZhenFei's "perfect" photo of a burn victim. The participants laughed at it...

Then, they were assigned to discuss on natural disasters that occur all around the world, and present it later.
Some were discussing...
Some were modelling...
Some were presenting...

Mockwar was their next program. It takes time to prepare for it, so while they were presenting, some of the facilitators were preparing for the items and set ups for the mockwar. There were water balloons, a pool, tyres, commando crawl pits, flour bowl, I could just keep going...
HuiYee and her finger-torturing job, tie-ing balloons...
I wonder whats he so amazed of, I'm just making the flour flat...

After every presentation is done, OH YEAH! Time to get wet you little brats! This is our revenge on all the sufferings you have gave us!

We tortured them with:
Commando crawl on sticky water filled with flour...
A task to find a marble in a cloudy, murky pool of water...
Climb up a rope...
... and of course, Tug-Of-War!

I shouldn't really call it torture, as they were having LOADS of fun doing all those... We, facilitators havee fun too, throwing water balloons at them, and splashing them with buckets filled with water!

Of course, we were backfired by the kids, and were wet too...
Drenched out...

My biggest respect to Linges for having to take Rapid Bus home with that condition... ( I wonder if he did though..). Loved the finale though, tricked Thina near to the pool, and all of us pushed him down! Time to get changed...
Two cents by someone most of us hate...

For the last hour, all groups were to practice for their sketch during the campfire. Yeap, sketch... Hehe, future actors/actresses... They scattered all over the place:
...from inside the tents pitched...
...to the treehouse...

... to avoid other teams spying on them...

DAY 3:

The never to be missed calisthenics during the wee hours of the day. Conductors, ZhenFei + Shyamala.
Some were athletes, some were posers...

Next, group shots as requested by Linges...
If you could zoom, you will see all the faces were =(...

Next program, water rafting... During the trip there in the bus,
...there were emo girls...
... and happy couples in a quarrel...

Took an hour and a half to reach the destination, and we found out that the boats were not ready yet. So we took an alternative plan to delay some time, Treetop Walk. Time to get your fear of heights vanished people!
...though theres nothing to be afraid of, its so secured...

After we are done with that, the boats are finally prepared, but all of us gotta go thru water confidence test, to ensure you are not afraid of the water? Don't ask me, I never invent these tests...
Wheeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Water rafting time!
What I like about this trip is that I get to participate in water rafting, and it was so cool! What I LOVE about this trip is I get to do it for free, eventhough my sister and other relatives pay hundreds to participate! Haha, though, the raft lasted only 30 minutes, but it was worth it! Best day throughout the camp.

DAY 4:

Oh dear, the day I hated most among all camp days. My mood was seriously dampered by these little devils. Its an hour and 15 minutes bus trip to Pantai Kerachut, or in English, Turtle Beach.

The innocent Linges...

Then, its an hour plus hike to the beach.

I don't mind the hike, but what I hate is that I have to monitor the kids! Some were capable of hiking, some were just plain weakling... At some places that were considered dangerous we facilitators had to carry them through... I also remember carrying a girl on my back to the beach when we almost arrived because she felt tired and is showing symptoms of asthma... Luckily nothing happened...

Alvin and Linges went there 1st, to plan the station games.

Station 1, bury 2 of your teammates with sand.

Station 2: Create a drain-like passage and blow a ball throught the passage.

Halfway, we were interupted by the biggest of the big 'boss', to give them lunch. The competition is running and he stopped them for lunch, brilliant idea! *Punches nose*

Station 4: Fill 1.5 litre of bottle with water using only hands.
Caught cheating, putting in sand...

And for the grand finale, dig the sands in a particular area for a treasure, the grand prize.

My team found a treasure chest, which turned out to be a prank, as it was not even digged in the sand...

After a scorching hot wait of 30 minutes, finally a group has found the treasure.
The 'treasure'... Its just gold wrapped chocolates with a few props...
The winner, team TNT

Nighttime. Campfire. Sketch! The crucial part is that the parents of participants were there... and also, during the sketch, they will be interupted halfway, and given a random object, and were to be used in their sketch...
Pri...*cough!* HuiYee.

After the sketch, its.... some dance they do around the fire, I don't know what its called.
Leaded by : Charlene, HuiYee

Uhm, HuiYee, control, kay?

Finally, the last day of camp...

DAY 5:

Hiking trip to Penang Hill. Not only most of the facilitators didn't slept at all the day before (I slept though, for about 3 hours...), we had to hike for like, 2 hours on the TAR ROAD scaling 30% to 40% of inclined angle... I would MUUUUUUUUUUUUCH prefer the jungle road, but its too dangerous for the young devils... *sigh*
This is not the worst part yet, take a look at the picture below...
Only 3 people?

The rest are probably behind... The worst is the one ZhenFei gotta take care of... a fatty that needs rest every 10 steps... Besides, I was RUNNING back and forth to kept in contact with the front and back groups... My legs...

When we finally reached, most of them went to buy snacks and had their lunch. I, practically, swallowed a full can of 100Plus in like, 30 seconds?

Group shot

Time to go home now...

Then, before they got home, one of the facilitator got a jaw dislocated, and was sent to hospital. Well, good thing they missed the sight of a stingy authority.

The nominated participant (best camper, bla bla bla) picking his prize, 5 JELLYBEANS!!!

How stingy can a guy be?

Anyways its the end, we just striked the camp, and headed to Lye Lye food court for dinner, and head straight home. I hate to admit it, but I kinda miss some of the brats in camp now...
